Bob_Dan_Don, CodeFinder: Millennium Edition is the world's #1 ranked and best Bible codes program. It is only sold in 2 places, by this website in the USA and by my partner Kevin in Australia. We don't discount it. However, we do sell it at a bargain price. Consider that CodeFinder is 1000 times better than programs from 5 years ago. But at that time these other programs which are far, far less capable were selling for ~$100. We decided to make it more affordable and sell it for $67.95 plus shipping. That changed the whole dynamics among all the codes programs and all these others had to drop their prices below CodeFinder (since their program wasn't as good). So I tell you that at $67.95 plus shipping, CodeFinder is a real bargain and we don't discount it. |

WorldNet Daily (www.worldnetdaily.com) is having a special on the Torah 2000 software for $9.95. I know that Roy does not suggest purchasing it for "serious" Bible Code researchers, but I think it is good for the "beginner" like myself. Roy you did a really great job on comparing the various Bible Code softwares. I at least know what I am buying and for under $18.00, I think this is a good purchase. However, I do intend to step-up and buy one of the "better" programs that Roy suggests later. |

hurstv, Actually, in my view Torah Codes 2000 is not even worth that from a comparative capabilities view. It has too limited capabilities. |

Frankly, I am sceptical of the bible code phenomenon - but went ahead and ordered a copy of the new millennium edition just to put it to the test. We'll see. |

I have tested codefinder and bible code. The phenomenon is more than real and in my opinion, you don't need to calculate any stat, it's just fantastic. You just have to consider word(s) with 4 letters or more, that are in row or col, with an "operative word(s)" with 7 letters or more Free software is available to download http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sUPERbibLeADVANCeD_decoder/ => Files It's less powerfull than codefinder but it's the best free software available. |

Freeware, Your recommendation remains to be seen. As one who has been in codes research for over 7 years and in software development, my recommendation for best free software is Torah4U. Of course, the free software programs are far, far less capable than the two best codes software programs--CodeFinder: Millennium Edition (#1) and Bible Codes 2000 (#2). I've tried to use Super Advanced Bible Decoder and couldn't get it to run on my Windows XP computer, although I will try the new version that just came out and see if it works now. This is not the topic area to advertise free software since it is for tech support for CodeFinder. :-) |

Roy, do you know of any software for code research that will run in a Unix or a mac environment? |

Terry, There are many people running either CodeFinder: Millennium Edition (#1 ranked) or Bible Codes 2000 (#2 ranked) codes programs on a Mac using VirtualPC. Likewise, Jerusalem Dictionary the premier bilingual Hebrew-English dictionary runs well on a Mac using VirtualPC. With all the above programs, they run perfectly with no problems. However, there are a few constraints to using VirtualPC as follows: A Mac user should have a minimum of 128mb of ram memory because you are running the Mac OS and then running the VirtualPC software on top of that, and only then are you starting and running the Bible code program. You need memory available for running the Bible Code program and data handling. 96mb of ram may me minimally usable, but one would run out of ram with any reasonably extensive code searches. Secondly, a Mac user needs to have a version of VirtualPC that is Windows 98 or ME or 2000 or XP, and NOT a DOS version or Windows 95 version. In the 2000 or XP version, the user should run it in administrator mode. A Mac user must buy VirtualPC in order to be able to run these Windows programs, since it is not part of the Mac OS. You could check around on the internet to buy VirtualPC at the best price. As far as UNIX goes, you could try and obtain the UNIX program used by Dr. Eliyahu Rips in Israel. I don't have the links, but Dr. Rips has a modest website. Also, I don't know whether he would give it to you. :-) I am quite confident that CodeFinder: Millennium Edition on Windows is far better for doing codes research unless you want to calculate "p" values. in which case the UNIX program is what you want. |

Thanks, I have a mac (with plenty of memory it appears) that is equipped for Unix as well. My windows machine is a bit older and I was concerned that it may not be up to the task. I'll look into things a bit more. The tech stuff was important to know. |

Terry, I have an old Pentium 166 mhz computer that is 10 years old and it runs CodeFinder and Jerusalem Dictionary and Bible Codes 2000 fine. Of course it is 50 times slower than my Windows XP computer with 2 gig processor. This increase in speed is not only due to processor speed, but memory speed, harddrive speed and that Pentium 4 level processors have a floating point processor too, while the old Pentium 1 processor didn't have floating point processing for calculations. That came into existence with Pentium 3 and Pentium 4 level processors. A complete search with CodeFinder having say 50 terms takes less than 2 minutes on my 2 gig computer, and it would take an hour or more on the very old 166 mhz Pentium 1. However, the old computer will do the job. :-) So....if you got VirtualPC, you could load and run the programs on both your Mac and also on your old Windows computer. The only thing I couldn't do satisfactorily was running the Windows Bible codes programs on Linux using WINE. Linux is available for both your PC and your Mac (downloadable free). However, I could only get the programs running about 90% using WINE and couldn't overcome the missing capabilities. 90% is not good enough, so I don't recommend people running Linux with the WINE program and trying to run the Bible code programs. Some of the missing capabilities are crucial although it searches fine. |

Terry, I looked on Dr. Eliyahu Rips website and didn't find a link for the UNIX program. However, I did a search for Dr. Yoav Rosenberg who wrote the programs that Rips used. His website has the UNIX program available for download, here: http://www.math.tau.ac.il/~tsirel/prog.html Actually, the above program is written in C, and you can probably compile it in UNIX. |
